Patching 1.21 and switching between 1.20 and 1.21

This is for those who dont have room to install 2 copies of warcraft 3 on their pc.
After you do this all you need to switch between 1.20 and 1.21 is copy and paste which takes you 5 seconds at most.


Requirements: Warcraft III TFT 1.20 Installed in your computer and extra 20mb of hard disk space

If you just COPIED warcraft (not installed) then read the next post on how to create a registry entry for warcraft before patching

First we need to save the four DLL files of 1.20 to be used later
1. Goto your warcraft folder and create a new folder called 1.20
2. COPY the following four files from your main warcraft folder



Now its time to patch your warcraft
Goto the blizzard website and upgrade your frozen throne to 1.21

After patching is complete you need to save your 1.21 DLLs
1. goto your warcaft folder and create a new folder call 1.21
2. COPY again the four dll files mentioned above to this folder

How to switch:

To play 1.20 : Goto the 1.20 folder and copy all four files to your main warcraft folder. Choose copy and replace

To play 1.21 : Goto the 1.21 folder and copy all four files to your main warcraft folder. Choose copy and replace


Note: DON'T CUT PASTE

If you have copied warcraft intead of installing it. you will get a message like warcraft not found when you try to install it. this will create a registry entry for warcraft which will then allow you to install the patch

1. open a new text document
2. copy the following 3 lines to it

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Blizzard Entertainment\Warcraft III]
"InstallPath"="C:\\Program Files\\Warcraft III"


Note: you need to give the path of your warcraft

Eg: if your folder is D:\games\warcraft
then give the install path as D:\\games\\warcraft

USE 2 \\ for the directories.



3. now save the text document as abc.reg (any name .reg)
4. open the .reg file and your registry will be updated

jst use warcraft version switcher from http://download2.gg-game.com/Warcraft_Version_Switcher.zip

its simple men no need all dat.. make a copy of the war3 wit patch 1.20 in another drive.. den install the new patch(1.21) ur done...

Version switcher is 60mb and does the same thing. also i said in the start that this is for ppl who dont want to use up the space for 2 warcraft games in stalled in one machine. so making a copy of warcraft will not help you to do that.
